Project

Web Application

We developed a market-ready MVP that empowers users to share and access critical accessibility information for public spaces.

AccessibilOT is partnering with State Parks to provide on-site accessibility information. They came to us with a vision to create a user-friendly map platform that would not only surface official accessibility survey results but also enable public participation in documenting and sharing their experiences with accessibility.

Strategy

The team at AccessibilOT knew the core features they needed for their MVP. What they didn't have was a plan to surface those features in an intuitive way. that would establish the foundation for a comprehensive accessibility information platform. We prioritized features that would provide immediate value while setting the stage for future expansion of a comprehensive accessibility information platform.

The MVP needed to achieve several key goals:

  • Legal Protection: Implementing clear disclaimers to protect businesses and locations from liability
  • User Engagement: Creating an intuitive system for users to contribute to and read about accessibility information
  • Data Organization: Structuring information in a way that's both searchable and visually intuitive
  • Trust & Verification: Distinguishing between official AccessibilOT team content and public contributions

Development

The development process focused on creating a robust, user-friendly platform that could handle both official and user-generated content. Key technical achievements included:

  • Interactive Map Interface: Implemented a dynamic map system with zoom controls and location-based search
  • User Authentication: Developed a secure login system for both public users and AccessibilOT team members
  • Data Management: We created a structured system for storing and categorizing custom geolocation data tagged with accessibility information.
  • Offline Capabilities: Implemented data persistence for offline access

User Experience

The user experience was designed to be intuitive and accessible, with careful consideration for users with varying accessibility needs. Key UX features include:

  • Color-Coded Accessibility Levels: Visual indicators for different accessibility levels
  • Mobility Equipment Options: Clear categorization of mobility equipment requirements
  • Search & Discovery: Multiple ways to find and access information (map, address search, zoom)
  • User Profiles: Optional self-identification of accessibility needs and equipment use

Future Expansion

The MVP lays the groundwork for additional features that will enhance the platform's value:

  • Enhanced User Profiles: Expanded self-identification options and personalization
  • Review System: Comprehensive review capabilities for trails and amenities
  • Favorite Locations: Personal collections of saved accessibility information
  • Advanced Search: More sophisticated filtering and sorting options

Making Public Spaces More Accessible

AccessibilOT's platform is transforming how accessibility information is shared and accessed, creating a more inclusive experience for users of all abilities.
